Problem Gambling Hope & Recovery: A Place To Come Together In Unity

About Problem Gambling Hope & Recovery

A Virtual Fellowship.

Problem Gambling Hope & Recovery commenced on December 29, 2017 for the sole purpose of providing a safe place to connect and recover with people around the world! We
follow the long-standing traditions of unity embraced by recovery programs since their inception.

It is  a fellowship of Unity and hope that looks at the differences in how people get recovery as an asset and not looking at recovery as a one size fits all recovery. Creating unity and fellowship without focusing on names such as GA, Recovery Unanimous, Celebrate Recovery, START and all the other individual programs out there as “the only way”. PGHR is a fellowship that embraces all recovery model approaches and names used because PGHR sees them as the ‘wrapper’ - as all have a ‘program’ that works for select CGs to help them achieve their recovery and in the view of PGHR those delivering different recovery support systems should always focus on the bigger goal – one to help CGs achieve healing and to end the cycle of relapse instead of not creating unnecessary strife or controversy in the recovery community. The PGHR motto comes from an idea that comes from GA UK and their list of “Just for today”:

“Just for today I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests - hurry and indecision”.

PGHR's Evolutionary Snapshot
The initial group of people on December 29, 2017 was 20 and from there it grew fairly steady and faster than expected. Prior attempts had a maximum of 45 members over a 2 year period and were very slow activity wise. Connections were limited but with this new group and a low expectation that maybe 50 members would be the best it would do the life of PGHR began.

Today PGHR has grown to over 1,000 members from all over the world and in addition to the early resources it had grown to have more. One new resource of PGHR back in those early days is one that people are familiar with quite well today. PGHR, because of the chance meeting between its founder and a young teacher from Oklahoma who was trying to get virtual meetings going, started its journey with the “zoom” tool which opened up the world of virtual meetings to people. Among the resources available are:
1. The Virtual Meetings
2. Books and Reading materials
3. Video’s
4. Fellowship through the page itself.
5. Educational Units and more!
PGHR started as a group to provide resources freely, without cost to the member and create a worldwide community. Today, despite struggles with security early on and so many other things, PGHR stands for unity and common goals in a safe environment.

PGHR's Current Scope / Directives
Presently PGHR is creating several avenues to work on recovery.
PGHR is still developing as a fellowship and it is run by CGs in recovery who volunteer their time and share their expertise to help support those in recovery which also includes shipping materials to those interested.
